On November 12th, 2016, Epiphany House launched the Family of Families initiative. Family of Families is a community families in Eastern Delaware County formed to offer each other support in their commitment to fostering and adopting children. The kick off event included movie, pizza, family photographs and $50 gift cards to a local Giant grocery store. Our families also received $100 gift cards to Target. for Christmas On December 30th Clifton Heights Methodist church hosted a New Year celebration with delicious hoagies, plenty games and a blessing from pastor, Kevin Babcock for 2017.
Valentine’s provided the next opportunity to gather. The kids joined in making Valentine cards and dancing while adults gathered to participate in a needs survey aimed to give direction to the growth and development of Family of Families. Our next event will be joining together to fund raise as Team Epiphany in the Lansdowne Memorial Day 5K Run/Walk . |

JULY 4TH BLOCK PARTY AND RAFFLE: The Community Block Party launching the fundraising for Generations Epiphany is on the 4th of July from noon to 4pm. June GENERATIONS EPIPHANY: The aim of Generations Epiphany is to apply the GHC concept to the adoption of foster and special needs children. Generations Epiphany is our centerpiece project and was launched on February 25th of this year. Generations Epiphany is our commitment to develop a Generations of Hope Community (GHC) in the Philadelphia region. 2011October WAIT NO MORE CONFERENCE OCTOBER 29TH: As a key part of this year’s adoption ministry outreach, Epiphany House is involved in organizing and promoting the Wait No More Conference that will be held on Saturday, October 29th 1-5 PM at Calvary Baptist Church in Lansdale, PA. Susan Guntz, who has worked with us on promoting adoption ministry and National Adoption Month has played a key role in bringing the Wait No More Conference to Philadelphia. September Epiphany House Joins GoodSearch and GoodShop!: We’re excited to announce that Epiphany House has joined GoodSearch and GoodShop! More than 93,000 nonprofits and schools are now participating in our program and 100 new organizations are joining daily! September Epiphany House Fostering New Partnerships: Over the recent months, as a means to expanding our outreach, Epiphany House has been actively exploring and building new relationships in the region. Our two latest partnerships are: Mothers’ Home and National Adoption Center. 2010February
Amanda Grace Memorial Fundraiser: In loving memory of our daughter, Amanda Grace, it is our honor to organize a fundraising event for the benefit of Epiphany House. The Epiphany House mission is that every child should have a loving and stable home, with special recognition of the need for adoptive families dedicated to special needs children. 2009February A Vision for 2009 : Building a Future for Kids: At our 6h Anniversary Open House on January 4, 2009 we presented our vision for the future of Epiphany House. Our primary 2009 goal is to acquire a house owned by Epiphany House, Inc. and expand on our commitment to waiting children. November November National Adoption Month: During National Adoption Month Epiphany House has invited local churches to “spiritually adopt” a Pennsylvania waiting child. Each participating church received, from Epiphany House, a photo and profile of a specific child from the Pennsylvania Adoption Network . Starting with Adoption Sunday November 8th and throughout the month of November each church is committed to praying that their waiting child soon find a forever place with an adoptive family. November Nicky Joins the Epiphany House Family: Nicky O’Keeffe is now under Epiphany House guardianship. For now he will continue to live at Voorhees Pediatric Center where he has grown up. When he ages out of Voorhees at age 21 his care will be our responsibility. Thanks to the funds raised last year at the concert for Nicky we were able to cover all the legal costs involved for us to become Nicky’s legal guardians. The first task at hand for us is to register Nicky in the Upper Darby School District so that his schooling at Voorhees will not be interrupted. September The Epiphany House Network: Epiphany House, through its recruitment, outreach, counseling and support efforts is building a network of foster/adoptive families. These are families that have, in some manner, been supported by Epiphany House in their commitment to foster/adoptive care. With this newsletter we introduce “In the Epiphany House Network” as a feature to introduce and provide regular updates about our families and their children on our website. In addition to presenting the impact that Epiphany House is making, we hope this feature will also plant seeds of inspiration to others who may consider becoming foster/adoptive families Adoption Congratulations!: Congratulations to Jim and Natashia DeNofa on the finalization of the adoption of their son, Victor age 4, from foster care on September 26th. See Victor featured in You Tube video. Four Year old Victor Dominates 12 Ft. Climb. One day he may be climbing for the GOLD! Jim and Natasha are currently in the process of finalizing adoption for Victor’s little sister Ariana. See her featured in Singing Baby. August Camp Epiphany: The dates for this year’s session of Camp Epiphany are August 10th, 11th and 12th. There will be a limited number of applicants accepted. Children from foster adoptive placements between ages 5 to13 will be given priority. This placement was unforseen and quite sudden. Rosalina is a magnificent surprise in our lives. May Welcome to Salinna’s Summer Adventure: Memorial Day May 25th through Labor Day September 7th, 2009: Salinna Lanctot is on a special Summer Adventure to raise pledges for the Salinna Snoezelen Room at Epiphany House. Corporate Donation: At our recent Halloween pancake breakfast Epiphany House was presented with a $500.00 contribution from Asera Care Home Health Services in Exton, PA. We are very grateful for the confidence Asera Care has placed in our mission and its generous support. EPIPHANY HOUSE CELEBRATES ITS FOSTER FAMILY OF THE YEAR Halloween Pancake Breakfast Honors Extraordinary Local Family: On Saturday October 25th, local children’s charity Epiphany House will host a Halloween Pancake Breakfast to honor its Foster Family of the Year. The awards ceremony will be held at the Garden Church, located at the corner of Lansdowne and Stratford Avenues in Lansdowne. “We are proud to recognize Betty and Joseph Keating-Dunn of Lansdowne. They have been providing kinship care to a grand niece and two grand nephews for the past 13 years,” says Dexter Lanctot, director, Epiphany House, Lansdowne. August Camp Epiphany: In August, Epiphany House inaugurates a pilot camp program for children foster and adopted children. The program will run three day sessions, August 11th, 12th and 13th for children between 6 and 11 years of age. The program will offer swimming, arts & crafts, martial arts, games, lunch local field trips in an environment considerate oseparatedl needs of children separted from siblings and birth families. June June 7th Regional Church Orphan/Foster Care Ministry Conference: On June 7th Epiphany House will be participating in a regional foster care adoption conference, at the Church of the Savior in Wayne, PA. The conference aims to forge a local coalition of ministries for greater impact on the orphaned and those in foster care. The coalition will develop strong advocacy, interventions and strategies for establishing orphan / foster care ministries in every congregation; to assure every child has a loving home. Epiphany House began five years ago believing that our faith communities are a rich and much untapped resource to promote the needs of waiting children. So it is with much enthusiasm that we anticipate the privilege to play a key role in the development of this coalition. June Central America Trips: Two of our kids traveled to Central America this summer. Fredrica went to Nicaragua with The Building with Books organization and volunteered helping to work on the building of a school in a small mountain village. Daniel joined a youth group mission trip with The Episcopal Diocese of Pennsylvania, to Guatemala. Daniel’s group did service at an orphanage in Guatemala. Below are their accounts of their journey’s south. June Epiphany House Feature: In June, Epiphany House was featured in an article by Lori A. Garber in the online magazine Philadelphia Maven. May Kathie Honored as Amazing Mom: The week before Mother’s Day, we were proud that CN8 “Your Morning” featured Kathie in it’s week long tributes to local Amazing Mom’s. The feature was a wonderful tribute to Kathie as well as a fine presentation of Epiphany House. 2007November Joyfully We Announce a New Forever Family: We received the following email recently from new mom to be, Kathryn Quigley: "Hello friends and fans of Nicholas, I write with good news. Nicholas’ adoption is set for Monday, Nov. 5 at 8:30 a.m. in the Hall of Justice in Camden, N.J. (Lovely Camden.) The Hall of Justice (which is NOT where the Superheroes live) is right next to the prison. So that will provide an interesting backdrop. But we will be there in Courtroom 63 for a much HAPPIER reason – the judge will officially rename Nicholas as Nicholas Robert Quigley and he and I will become a Forever Family." October Bringing Nicky Home Concert: On October 7th, 2007 the world renowned Philadelphia Boys’ Choir and Chorale will perform a benefit concert at the Garden Church, Stratford and Lansdowne Avenues in Lansdowne PA. Festivities will begin with refreshments at 5Pm followed by a 6PM concert. This concert is aimed to raise funds needed to make handicap accessible renovations for Epiphany House to accomodate children like Nicky. August Camp Epiphany: In August, Epiphany House is inaugurating a pilot camp program for children in the foster care system. This initial program will run day sessions August 11th, 12th and 13th and target children between 6 and 11 years of age. We are currently in discussion with a prominent camp for special needs children, in the Philadelphia region, about overnight sessions for summer 2009. July Celebrating Family Maker Dottie Gerstenfeld: After raising five children, Dottie, a baby-boomer single mother, saw an ad that said 180,000 children in Pennsylvania need a forever family. This prompted her to do something meaningful with her now empty nest- she became a foster parent to two teenaged boys in 2005. With the boys flourishing under Dottie’s care, she was recently named their legal parent making their forever family permanent. Epiphany honored Dottie with a special award on Sunday July 15th and presented her with a family package that included a family membership to the Philadelphia Zoo, Phillies tickets and a family photo portrait shoot. May Pancake Breakfast May 3rd 2008: This hearty breakfast is a great start to Lansdowne’s much-anticipated town-wide yard sale. The fee is $7 for adults, $5 for kids between the ages of five to 17, and free for children under five. This fun-filled event will entertain children with face painting, music, an amateur magic show, and balloon sculpting. We had a great turnout at last year’s breakfast and nearly 300 guests enjoyed the festivities. April Congrats to Sonty: Sonty was called to the principal’s office on Friday April 4th. He thought he was in trouble but couldn’t think of why. It turned out Sonty was being honored for his overall performance during PSSA week at Drexel Hill Middle School. Sonty received an Ipod Touch from the school as a reward. Sonty has consistently maintained 4.0 grade average overall excellent performance during his 8th grade year at Drexel Hill. He makes us proud. Way to go Sonty. April Daniel’s Adoption Finalized: We are very happy to announce the finalization Daniel Jeffer’s adoption to our family on April 3rd. Daniel was placed in foster care with us in August 2006. Daniel’s new legal name is Daniel Jacob Lanctot Grishkin. Daniel is 15. He is accomplished in martial arts, enjoys roller-blading, origami, volunteering and is enrolled in accelerated courses at Upper Darby High School in Upper Darby, PA. We look to be celebrating this event soon with a roller blading party. March Playhouse Donation: Our thanks to Brownies Troop 4673 Coatesville, PA 19320 and to Kevin Maher for delivery. The kids are already making it a little hangout and we think it will make a nice addition to our summer camp program. January Over 100 Guests Attend Open House January 6th: With the sun gleaming and temperatures hitting an all time record high of 73 degrees, it felt more like Easter than the 12th Day of Christmas. The climate allowed us to open the doors wide at Epiphany House as we welcomed more than 100 guests through the day. It was very pleasing to introduce Epiphany House to new folks, as well as enjoy the company of longtime friends and supporters. Dozens of kids played outside in the lovely weather tossing footballs, roller balding and skateboarding. 2006December
Angel Tree: Once again, this year, Epiphany House is assisting in the organizing of the Angel Tree at Christ Church in Philadelphia. During advent, the tree has tags with names of children and gift requests fro which parishioners choose. This year Christ Church congregation will meet nearly 140 gift requests which will be distributed for the children at several local shelters and charitable organizations. Epiphany House is grateful to have a role in this project at Christ Church. October Yard Sale for Amish:In mid-October, Epiphany House kids joined together in conducting a yard sale to benefit the Amish Community suffering from the October 2nd Amish school shootings. $75.00 was raised. October Cantores Minores: Epiphany House was host in October to three members of Cantores Minores a boys choir from Helsinki Finland. http://www.cantoresminores.net. We enjoyed the company of Juuso Koski, Alexsi Usano and Henry Sorvisto. These talented young men helped us learn much about there home country and joined our kids at the piano one evening for a fun sing along which included a range from Phantom of the Opera to Boogie. July Celebrating Foster/Adoptive Families : On Sunday July 15th, we will recognize two families, from the nominations we are receiving, in a special celebration to honor their commitment to children. At the celebration, each honored family will also receive a family gift package which will include a one year family membership to a local attraction, from several options, of their choice; a free personal family website for one year, a family portrait and other surprises. It is our hope that the stories of the families we honor will inspire others to consider becoming foster/adoptive families. Throughout the region we will work with local churches and community organizations to identify and honor families in those communities who are foster/adoptive parents. If anyone wishes to nominate a family for us to recognize for their commitment to adoption simply contact us. Any family not recognized at our first event will be considered in future programs. May Pancake Breakfast: The second annual Epiphany House Pancake Breakfast, on May 5th, which aimed to raise money for our Celebrate Adoptive Families Project was very successful. March Epiphany House Community Outreach: We are very excited about how Epiphany House Community outreach on behalf of waiting children continues to develop. We are enthused about new partnerships we are forming with Family Adoptive Ministries, Heart Gallery Philadelphia, The Upper Darby Ministerium, Evangelicals for Social Action, and Families All Together In Their Hopes (F.A.I.T.H.) We are confident these recent partnerships are going to expand the network and communities of folks committed to assuring no child is neglected or unloved. 2005August
Kids’ Book Offers Empathy: News of Delaware County: published August 17, 2005 JulyLook What’s Blooming: A relationship is blooming between Epiphany House and The Garden Church of Lansdowne. We are deeply appreciative to Rev. Timothy Thomson–Holt for hosting a presentation at the church’s May 1st service. The presentation included excellent witnessing from parents and grandparents of adopted children.
