In Philadelphia, there are hundreds of foster children who are longing for just that. Heart Gallery Philadelphia and the Philadelphia Department of Human Services are collaborating to bring these children closer to that dream. To achieve that goal, Professional Photographers have volunteered their time and skill to create beautiful, compelling portraits of Philadelphia's foster children. The goal is to raise adoption awareness, but more importantly to give voice to the many foster children in our community looking for their "Forever Family". Ultimately, the hope is that through these portraits prospective parents will be moved to adopt. These children are deserving of our attention, our compassion, our help, and our respect.

Is There Room in Your Home?
Is There Room in Your Heart?

"The unspoken prayers in the hearts of all the waiting children are powering this movement... a spirit of hope that is alive and making its presence known to help them, to speak for them, to create a miracle of change. It's amazing to see something greater than ourselves at work."

– Tony D'Agostino, Designer, Heart Gallery Supporter, NM

Celebrating Foster/Adoptive Families in 2007:
Foster Families

Epiphany House is committing to a bold initiative in 2007. Our goal is to find five new families in our local region who will become adoptive families to Pennsylvania waiting children.

During the year Epiphany House will be honoring current adoptive families with a view to inspiring others to consider becoming foster/adoptive families.  Throughout the region we will work with local churches and community organizations to identify and honor families in those communities who are foster/adoptive parents.

There are many problems in our world such as war, global warming, rampant poverty, genocide, diseases, and hunger, about which we often feel completely poweless to make a difference. These are problems of such overwhelming dimensions we can barely grasp them. There is, however, something we can do in which we can make a difference. We can positively impact the future for untold generations. It is by working to assure no child is left without a loving stable family.

In the Hebrew Christian traditions, there is a deep awareness that God has freely adopted us and made us his children. The covenant is one based on this adoption. We at Epiphany House believe that God has provided a family for every waiting child. Many of these families just don't know who they are yet.

How about your family? If you are the recipient of much blessing from God, then you must ask how is God inviting you to put those blessings to the service of others. Some of you have the grace and ability to be the adoptive families that are needed. Have you ever asked yourself if you might be one of those families? Perhaps you are not called to be the adoptive family but you may have the talent, abilitiy or resources to help find an adoptive family.

If you want to get involved in something where you will make a difference, look no further. You are in the right place! Check out the info below and give us a call.

Must Read: An Illuminating Unlit Path

Reviewer:
Dexter Lanctot -

Illuminating Unlit Path

In only two days, I devoured this book. I was even reading it at traffic lights. Our family has adopted four children through foster care. We are in the process of adopting a fifth.  We have had many experiences that paralle l those of the Hannah family. Because of this, I am confident in recommending that The Unlit Path is a must read for anyone considering foster/adoption and for all who have already set out on that road.

This spellbinding, true story is about a family who believed love was enough to save the most wounded and rejected children. Time and again, their decisions to adopt neglected or abused children leads the Hannah family to unforeseen heartbreaks and humiliations that are often devastating. Yet, from the darkness, which much suffering wreaks upon this family, the author comes to solid, spiritual insights that will grip and illuminate the reader. Many families are bound to benefit from Deborah Hannah's vulnerability in telling this courageous story.

Community Outreach:

Community OutreachWe are very excited about how Epiphany House Community outreach on behalf of waiting children continues to develop. We are enthused about new partnerships we are forming with Family Adoptive Ministries, Heart Gallery Philadelphia, The Upper Darby Ministerium, Evangelicals for Social Action, and Families All Together In Their Hopes (F.A.I.T.H.) We are confident these recent partnerships are going to expand the network and communities of folks committed to assuring no child is neglected or unloved.

Much Thanks:
Thanks
We are profoundly grateful to those of you who responded to our special appeal last month. Your response lifted us over a bit of a hump and allowed us to concentrate, without undo anxiety, on what we are called to do, care for kids and promote adoption.
Thanks so very much!
