March 2007

bridgeMarch is a birthday month at Epiphany House. We celebrated four birthdays in March. Although it's the month Spring arrives it was not lost on us that on March 6th it was 53 degrees colder than it was on January 6th. Then there was the snow and ice storm on St. Patrick's day. Geeze bring back the winter, it was so much nicer then. Daniel continued Baptism preparation in March. Kathie got a parking ticket, Suky thinks thou shalt not park here is among the 10 commandments. Life at E House was as lively as ever. We hope you enjoy reading some of the highlights in the journal below.

1st – Our temporary respite child, 4 year old Andy, pees upward into his eye. You figure it out.

3rd – Dexter takes Suky and some of her girl friends to the movie, "Bridge to Terbithia.

These girls, on the "bridge to adolescence," make for an outing that Dexter deems worthy of considerable lenten penetential practice.

ticket4th – Ebony cooks pancakes while Andy throws toy action figures at Nellie.

5th – Daniel and Sonty come home from school excited about roller blades and pads they "trash picked."

6th – Dexter's 58th birthday. When Sonty and Daniel kid Dexter about his age he is quick to point out it is our 23 year old Danny that is always needing a back brace. So, a little defensive are we Dexter? Salinna and Daddy spend afternoon at Children's Hospital at CP clinic.

7th – Kathie gets parking ticket in Lansdowne for waiting in a handicap parking space. It seems to make no difference that there's a handicap marker hanging from the car's windshield rearview mirror.

8th – Sonty's 13th birthday. He orders Chinese birthday dinner.

Remember not to tell your birthday wish to anyone after blowing out the cake's candles tonight or it won't come true. Although, truth be told, there's very little medical science can do for your mother at this stage in the game. (courtesy of The Onion www.theonion.com/content/horoscope/mar-08-2007)

Kevin sprinkles pepper on Daniel's slice of Sonty's birthday cake.

9th – Kathie and Dexter and Salinna go to the Philadelphia Flower Show as part of Dexter's birthday present.

10th10th – Suky says she doesn't know the 10 commandments and prefers not to know them because it's easier to ask pardon than permission. Sonty gets a wedgy while climbing fence at local playground. Sonty and his dad have their first father-son baseball catch of the season.

11th – We all go to St. Patrick's Day parade in Philadelphia. Dexter forgets Salinna's stroller and has to carry her from 17th and Spring Garden Streets to meet the rest of the family near the Free Library. Sonty kids about the 'old man's' memory lapses. On the drive home our puppy, Nellie, barfs all over Sonty. Touche.'

13th – Suky and Ebony have a chinese dumplings pic-nic on back porch. Their chinese fortune cookie says, "You will always be surrounded by good friends." Kathie takes her mom to Joanne fabrics store.

14th – Nellie gets spayed by Uncle Paul. When Ebony is in  the shower, Kevin tells her not to use too much water. "Why," she asks, "they need it in Africa?"

15th – Sonty and Suky participate in an adolesence study at Children's Hospital. Daniel meets with Rev. Richardson at Christ Church for baptism preparation.

18th16th – A nasty winter srtorm develps. At night we get cozy by fireplace; read play, games.

17th – St. Patrick's day. Sonty, Daniel, Suky shovel snow for neighbor and us. Suky and dad walk over mountains of ice and snow to downtown Lansdowne to participate in Peace vigil.

18th – Sonty, Suky, Daniel and neighborhood friends build snow fort. Corky visiting from D.C. He talks about wedding plans for him and Lauren.

21st – First day of Spring. Suky, Daniel, Sonty and Dexter go to see movie, "Amazing Grace."

23rd – Kathie heads off to Parksvile, MD to help out with grandchildren for the day. Dad and Suky to bingo night at Suky's school.

24th24th – Suky, Sonty, Daniel and neighbor friend met with kids from youth group of Christ Church Alexandria, VA at the King Tut exhibit.

25th – At church, Ebony wipes her nose on daddy's jacket during communion.

28th – As Ebony kisses her mom goodbye she says to Kathie, "I sucked your face accidentally." A new dishwasher was getting delivered here until it was realized the Bosch brand we had ordered won't fit with the plumbing access we have. Salinna gets a new wheel chair; plumbing access not an issue. We hope little Andy's plumbing is working better by now.

29th – Kevin's 22nd birthday.

Moments after accepting Jesus as your own personal savior, you'll be irritated to learn that He must be shared with the world's other 2.3 billion Christians. (Courtesy of The Onion www.theonion.com/content/horoscope/mar-28-2007).
