Epiphany House Family Journal June 2007

An Epiphany House family who's who:
Kathie and Dexter Lanctot, co-founders of Epiphany House Inc., are adoptive parents to Sonty Lanctot, age 13, Suky Lanctot, age 11, Ebony Lanctot, age 8, and Salinna Lanctot, age 7. Foster children include twin boys Lyle and Kyle, age 9. Daniel, 14 (to comply with confidentiality requirements the names of some DHS foster children are changed in this publication). In addition, Kathie's six birth children: Dennis, Courtney, Kelly, Patrick, Danny and Kevin McCunney. Dennis' spouse Kathy and their daughters' Nora Catherine McCunney, age 3 and Anna Claire McCunney, 7 months. Also, there is Lauren Derrington, fiancée to Courtney; Rachel Barrett, girlfriend of Patrick; Jim Pio, boyfriend to Kelly. Miss Marie, Salinna's home nurse. Our pets include puppy, Nellie; cat, Oliver; New Bunny,"Trixie" aka Bun-bun"; Cockatiel; Olive, a Turtle, Speedy, fish. We do occasional respite care for Kelly’s pooch, Molly.

April 2007

1st – At 3AM, Ebony wakes her dad to ask him to untangle her comb from the rope of the bedroom window blind. Sonty gets a bleeding head wound from elbow of classmate during schoolyard football game.

2nd – Our cat, Oliver delivers a dead bird at the back door.

3rd – Kevin: "I found a great pizza place that makes buffalo wing pizza that tastes just like Buffalo wings." Danny: "Really, I thought maybe they'd taste like shrimp." 

sha wa wa4th – Suky leaves on weeklong school trip to Echo Hill. Ebony wants us to get 2 Sha Wa Wa dogs.  

7th – Dexter spends day volunteering with former Phillies pitcher Tyler Green at hole three at golf tournament fund raising event for the Philadelphia Boys' Choir.

8th – Suky comes home from Echo Hill where she kissed a fish. She says she can't wait to use a flush toilet.

from 8th grade. He is recommended to
all AP classes in High School.

10th – Sonty and Daniel do yard work to prepare for upcoming splash party. It involves using the mower and leaf blower. Sonty says, "We made a deal, I mow he blows." Perhaps you might wish to rephrase that Sonty.

13th – Last day of school. Summer vacation begins. Dexter walks Suky to her school bus stop for the last time after 6 years. We get to "babysit" Ebony's class frog for the summer. Daniel’s promotion ceremony from 8th grade at Upper Darby High School.

Kelly and Jim make settlement on new house in Drexel Hill and begin renovations that will last at least a month or more.

15th – We host splash party for about 35 kids.

17th – Daniel, Dexter, Jim and Suky travel to MD to get a pool table Dennis and Kathy are giving Jim and Kelly. Because they could not get it into the new house at Kelly and Jim's it is now in our garage. Father's Day. Dexter gets a Husquavara self-propelled lawn mower.

18th – Sonty leaves for Philadelphia Boys' Choir Goodwill Tour to Turkey and Greece.

19th – Salinna gets admitted to Children's Hospital.

21st – Summer Solstice. Suky says that goths scare her. Daniel tries to figure out if he's a pessimist or an optimist. Ebony acts out a Sponge Bob Square Pants routine.

24th – Kathie says she'd love to have a horse farm for handicapped kids.

26th – Suky gets a sliver of glass in her foot. She gets treated at Children's Hopsital ER. Daniel begins doing pop up art engineering.

27th – Daniel begins historic tours volunteer work at Christ Church.

28th – Sonty returns from Turkey and Greece trip with fever and many good memories.

29th – Sonty goes to Childrens' Hospital ER with high fever. He is released after treatment. Meanwhile, Salinna still an inpatient on Children's Hospital pulmonary unit but improving nicely.

30th – Epiphany House is featured as the "Business of the Week" at Lansdowne Farmer's Market. We sell note cards featuring Ebony's art and ice cream.
